How to Pack Books

When you decide to move, you will likely immediately focus on how to move larger, heavier objects like furniture and television sets. Smaller items like books are often overlooked but are equally important.

Books are considered one of the easier items to pack because they are small and fairly durable. Nonetheless, you need to be sure they are packed carefully to avoid damage.

When packing books, you should make sure the boxes you have are sturdy enough.  Avoid using boxes that are too large because you might be tempted to fill them with as many books you can.

You might not be able to lift the box on moving day if you fill it to the brim. Additionally, when you lift the box, the weight of the books could tear through the bottom and leave you with a mess of manuscripts on the ground.

You should organize and label the boxes by the type of books contained inside. That way if you want to try a recipe or continue reading the new novel you started when you move in, you can easily find the appropriate book.

Some movers like to put a piece of paper between the books when they are packing them for the protection of the book covers. They also put packing material into the box to make sure that their books don’t move around while being transported.

When you finish packing your books, tape the box up securely. You should use packaging tape, and make sure that the box is closed up properly.

Doing so will make sure that the box doesn’t crash and damage another object in the moving van. Taping the boxes also reduces the chance of the books flying out of the truck and onto pavement.

Moving is incredibly stressful, and people often enlist the help of friends and relatives to help pack to avoid feeling overwhelmed. You might want to take advantage of the fact your books are off the shelves while packing and have a book club with your friends.

You could discuss old stories, and give away any of the books you no longer want or need.  You should also return any books you have borrowed.
